This week’s viral goes to Microsoft with a very unMicrosoft-like sleek and stylish ad promoting the launch of its “iPad killer” – Surface.
In a much hyped change of direction for the US technology company – who historically focus on software – Surface is Microsoft’s first venture into the tablet market.
And if the ad is anything to go by, Microsoft are on to a winner.
For a company known for its human-orientated and often clumpsy sales pitches, the ad is contemporary with a monochromatic colour scheme and bass-heavy soundtrack. Tumblr account Stop and Breathe rather fittingly called it “Tech porn”.
In just 5 days since the commercial first appear on Youtube, it’s racked up over 5 million views with 233,076 Facebook shares – making it the most shared ad in the world this week.
But the question remains, will it scratch the Surface in sales?
