Facebook Launches First TV Ad Campaign “The Things That Connect Us”

This week Facebook announced reaching the 1 billion active user milestone – and to celebrate they’ve released their first TV ad.

The 90 second commercial explains that chairs, doorbells, bridges and airplanes are like Facebook – because “they help connect us”.



But there’s been plenty of confusion surrounding the ad, in part because of its seemingly disingenuous messages from its focus on chairs. In fact, if you visit the Facebook login page today you’ll notice the chair is the chosen image to represent the brand.

So…chairs. Do they really “connect us”? Or is the underlying message from Facebook to remind us that they’re simply a fundamental part of your everyday life – like a chair?
